Can Face Waxing Damage Your Skin?

Can Face Waxing Damage Your Skin?

The face is a delicate area and pouring hot wax on it and then ripping it off...? Well, it doesn’t sound ideal.  With daily or regular use, waxing can damage our facial skin. Here are some of the side effects of waxing your face.

1. Pain

Waxing = pain. There’s no denying it. The amount of pain varies based on skin sensitivity, pain tolerance, the amount of hair in the area and the areas of your face that you’re waxing. For example, you may find that waxing the upper lip is more sensitive than waxing your chin. Thankfully, technology has come a long way. Which means there are less painful and more effective hair removal methods for the face, such as laser.

2. Redness and irritation

Have you ever waxed your face only to be left with blotchy skin and irritation? Freshly waxed skin often comes up pink or slightly red and can be sensitive to touch. And if you use alcohol-based products such as an alcohol-based toner, it may also burn. Reduce redness and irritation with laser hair removal for the face, plus the use of an anti-bacterial cream such as Skinsitut’s Laser Aid. Get any 3 Skinstitut™ products for $99 or any 5 for $149 at all LCA locations.

3. Ingrown hairs and bumps

Ugh, ingrowns are THE. WORST. Ingrown hairs occur when bumps develop on top of the pores where the hairs and roots are removed. It’s not a great feeling or a great look  ALSO. Did you know you’re at a higher risk of ingrown hairs if the hair roots are not completely removed? If the hair shaft breaks below the skin, you’ve got a much higher chance of an ingrown hair. Luckily, laser hair removal uses advance technology to get every last little sucker so that your chances of ingrown hairs drops significantly.

4. Bleeding

Have you ever experienced bleeding during a waxing session? Small amounts of bleeding after waxing is extremely common and occurs when parts of the epidermis are removed along with your hair when waxing. If you’re experiencing continuous or significant bleeding, please consult your GP. The safer, less messy option? You guessed right. Laser Hair Removal. The laser beams ONLY targets pigment in the hair follicle which means no ripping of the epidermis, no damage to the surrounding skin and no bleeding!

5. Pimples

Breaking out after face waxing is normal. Pimples from waxing can occur when dipping the same waxing stick into the pot and this leads to spreading bacteria across the face. To avoid breakouts from waxing, switch to face laser hair removal. It’s a much safer and more hygienic way to remove hair that won’t distribute pimple-inducing bacteria around the face!

The final word

The best way to avoid these side effects of face waxing is to switch to a more advanced form of hair removal such as laser.

It’s time to throw out the razor. No more waxing. Now you can be ready at a moment’s notice. Laser treatment for hair removal means fast and reliable, permanent hair reduction. Our experienced therapists use medical grade Candela GentleLase Pro and GentleYag Pro, the world’s most efficient hair reduction system. For smooth, ready to go skin all year round.

Designed with sensitive skin in mind, our lasers are safe enough to be used on any part of the body and target different skin types whilst ensuring maximum results. All of our lasers feature a unique dynamic cooling device that helps to calm, soothe and protect the skin.

How laser hair removal works.

The laser works by directing concentrated light into the hair follicle inhibiting the hair’s ability to grow without disrupting or damaging the skin’s surface.

Our lasers use a wide beam which allows the removal of multiple hair follicles at the same time.

Our experienced Therapists will take your skin and hair type into account before creating a personalised treatment plan.

The Candela GentleLASE Pro is designed to work for clients with dark hair and lighter skin, while the GentleYAG Pro works best on a darker skin tone.
