How it Works

Laser Pigmentation Removal works to safely and effectively reduce the appearance of freckles, pigmentation, sun spots and age spots. The laser targets only the pigmented lesion in the skin which absorbs the light, without damaging the surrounding skin. The laser heats up and shatters the pigment. The pigment is then drawn to the surface without harming the surrounding tissue.

At Laser Clinics, the minimum age for all laser and energy-based treatments is 18 years old. This ensures every client can provide informed consent and that treatments are delivered safely, responsibly, and in line with industry regulations. Clients under 18 are not eligible for treatment, even with parental or guardian consent.

Skin Check Requirements

For clients in Queensland (QLD) and Western Australia (WA), a skin check by a qualified medical practitioner — such as a GP or dermatologist — is required before starting laser pigmentation removal. This medical assessment helps confirm that any pigmented spots are safe to treat and not of clinical concern, ensuring your treatment is carried out responsibly and in line with state regulations.

If you’re unsure where to organise a skin check, our team can guide you through the process.

  • In QLD, this precaution aligns with state regulations that mandate clients consult with a medical practitioner to assess any moles or blemishes that may pose risk and to provide written medical advice before treatment. 

  • In WA, regulatory oversight under the Radiation Safety Act also supports this requirement, with clinics commonly requesting a Medical Opinion Letter – Skin Check from your practitioner prior to laser pigment treatments.
