When was the last time you mowed your lawn? No, not that one…
Manscaping and male grooming are no longer the domain of a select few – instead, more and more menfolk are taking to the tools for a trim. A recent study by Braun revealed 70% gents trim their body hair, with almost a third of them taking their sweet time to do so – spending upwards of 20 minutes on the task at hand. But for those blokes with a job / better things to do than to spend such a long time in the bathroom, there’s an easy solution. Chances are, too, it’s your lady friends’ best-kept secret.
Laser hair removal is a hassle-free and pain-free path to smooth skin and most likely the reason her legs are so silky. But it’s not a case of ladies-only: from backs to bellies to your other – ahem – bits, laser makes permanent hair reduction a piece of cake. Whether you’re after a total hair reduction (those shoulders?) or just looking to reduce the growth, in an easy 6 to 10 sessions, you’ll be able to say sayonara to labour intensive grooming routines.
What’s so great about laser hair removal?
For starters, it’s about comfort. Laser hair removal gets rid of shaving rash and the ingrown hairs that make you scratch your neck and jawline.
It’s quick, safe and virtually pain-free, plus it’s cheaper in the long run than what you would have spent on razors. Be it your back, shoulders, neck, chest, stomach, arms, male Brazilian or crack, there’s zero downtime – you’re good to go the minute you’re done.
And, for those of us with commitment issues, it doesn’t mean everything must go – in a few sessions you can reduce rather than eliminate your hair growth to make that lawn a little easier to manage.
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
How does the treatment work?
Laser hair removal works by directing concentrated light into the hair follicle inhibiting the hair’s ability to grow without disrupting or damaging the skin’s surface. Our lasers use a wide beam which allows the removal of multiple hair follicles at the same time. Efficient and effective? Tick!
Does it hurt?
One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cool your skin before, during and post-treatment to minimise any discomfort.
Can I have laser over the top of tattoos?
No, unfortunately, we cannot put our laser technology over the top of tattoos.
How often will I need to get laser hair removal?
Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at four- to six-week intervals. Each part of the body has a different air growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.
Will all hair be removed?
Think of it as dating. It takes a few sessions before you’re ready to go steady. If you’re in the market for hair reduction, you can take it slow – you’ll only need about 2 to 4 sessions. But if you’re looking for the clean sweep, you’ll need to keep romancing the laser for up to 10 sessions.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
The short answer is: it depends. Laser hair removal offers permanent hair reduction. After every session hair grows back thinner and lighter. At any given moment a rough 85% of your hair is in its growth stage and is fair game for the laser. As for the others – they’ll get there. It’s the circle of life, after all.
How often do I need to get laser hair removal?
Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4 to 6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment. If you want hair reduction, we recommend approx. 4-6 treatments. If you want the clean-skin look, we recommend up to 10 treatments. It’s important to remember there is no one size fits all.
How do I prepare for a treatment?
Before your appointment, we ask that you:
- Shave the area between 12-24 hours before your treatment
- Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing
- Exfoliate to remove any dead skin build up
- Ensure no fake tan residue is present on the skin
- Avoid excessive sun exposure on area being treated two weeks prior (including solariums or tanning drugs)
- Avoid using topical creams/moisturisers, perfumes to the area being treated before appointment
- Do not wax or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment.
Can I get blonde hair removed?
Unfortunately, blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair do not respond to treatment. Laser hair removal cannot treat these colours as they do not produce any pigment. Therefore, the laser will not be able to attract hairs of this colour and will essentially miss them.
