Skin Tightening

Skin Tightening Treatment

Loose Body Skin can be the result of weight loss, child bearing or simply as a result of ageing. There are many alternatives for treatment – from skin tightening creams to surgical procedures to liposuction. However, some of these treatments either show few results or carry risks that can outweigh the advantges.

Laser Clinics Australia recommends both laser treatment and skin needling for effective skin tightening.

Using the Candela GentleYAG there are no incisions, no scars and the promise of positive results. The GentleYAG laser tightens the skin by transferring heat to the deepest layers of the skin, creating thermal injury below the epidermis which results in a healing response in your skin. The skin is encouraged to produce collagen, elastin and other proteins. By activating enough of these sources, wrinkles and loose skin can be diminished within weeks after the treatment.

Best results occur anywhere from four to six weeks after the treatment. A minimum of three treatments is recommended approximately six weeks apart. As gravity and the ageing process naturally take place, the skin loses its youthful appearance, but this treatment is a great alternative to a surgical facelift.

The laser emits light in very short bursts - called pulses – which feels like of the snap of a thin rubberband. If you wish to reduce discomfort you can use an  anesthetic cream called EMLA, which you can apply 45 minutes prior to the procedure. Side effects of laser treatment can include redness and swelling, but this only lasts for 24-48 hours. For a week after treatment we recommend you avoid sun exposure.
